THE GENERATIVE GENERATION
Quick think of something, anything. Was that easy or did your mind go blank?
When you have the ability to conjure anything often it can be quite hard to come up with something.
For children coming of age in the age of AI it will be hard to imagine what life was like before generative AI, a prehistoric time.
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new content, such as text, images, and music. Generative AI models are trained on large datasets of existing content, that use data to learn how to generate new content that is similar to the data they were trained on.
At present, there are a few types of generative AI:
Text generation: By now you have likely heard of or tried chatGPT. Generative AI is already being used to generate text, such as news articles, blog posts, and even creative writing, and MOST OF THIS SECTION. #AInception
Image generation: Generative AI can be used to generate images, such as photographs, paintings, and even cartoons. Meaning we are about to see the parabolic rise of deep fakes.
Music generation: Generative AI can be used to generate music, such as songs, symphonies, and even soundtracks.
Video generation: Generative AI can be used to generate videos, such as movies, TV shows, and even commercials.
WORKING WITH THE FNG
With generative AI almost any idea can now quickly be built upon potentially spawning multiple scalable projects. Even if you have no technical skills it’s easier than ever to be the next Zuckerberg when AI is here to do the heavy lifting.
Here are a few rough steps to success. This may sound simple but it is not easy.
Step 1. Find a mature category that can be disrupted using AI
Step 2: Develop a new AI enabled concept along with a web property
Step 3. Drive traffic to the web property
Step 4: Monetize traffic either through ads, subscriptions or both
Step 5: Build a durable user base that can be used later to organically direct towards other web properties
Step 6: Harvest cash flow or sell the property to a more prominent player

You are what you eat, but what do you want to eat?
What if for less than a cup of coffee, you can have your own AI-enabled dietician?
Step 1. Find a mature category that can be improved with AI
SnackGPT: The AI-Enabled Cooking Website
A 2022 study by eMarketer found that the number of U.S. adults who subscribe to at least one cooking website is expected to reach 10.9 million by 2023. This represents an increase of 1.5 million from 2022 ~ almost 15% category growth.
The study also found that the average annual subscription price for cooking websites is $50.
Online cooking’s total addressable market is roughly $550 million in 2023 and growing to likely more than $625 million in 2024. Every 1% of market penetration could be worth at least $5.5 million in revenue.
Step 2: Develop the concept into a web property by improving what already exists
The only way to prove a concept is to build a minimum viable product. This part used to be the hardest but with AI a scalable web property can be built in hours not weeks.
A few best practices:
Ship as you iterate.
Good is better than perfect.
Fail early and often.
Stay humble stay foolish
For SnackGPT to succeed it will at first need a highly styled website that acts as a front end for an AI-enabled model containing:
High-quality recipes: Millions of recipes are instantly generated that have been tested and perfected by text generation. If you don’t like it generate a new one.
Our AI is an expert chef who can craft Michelin-star recipes.
Step-by-step instructions: provide clear and concise instructions that make it easy to follow even the most complex recipes.
Why not build versions of the site in different languages for a worldwide user base?
Beautiful photography: featuring stunning photography that makes you want to cook every recipe.
Image generation will instantly generate photos of delicious food at any stage of the recipe
Personalization: Allow users to log in and personalize their experience by saving recipes, creating shopping lists, and tracking progress.
By training your own personal food AI over time your responses will only get better.
Video tutorials: Video generation can show you how to make each recipe step-by-step.
Step 3. Drive traffic to the web property
The beauty of infinite AI content is capturing the boomerang effect that occurs when users share engaging content created on the site across the web and on social media which in turn drives users to the site who will share their content.
Another benefit - the content is evergreen. Chicken parm is always on the menu.
Other ways to drive traffic include:
Engaging in influencer partnerships
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Targeted ads via social media advertising and engagement
The site will then monetize traffic through ads, subscriptions, or both.

Rocket Internet is a venture capital firm founded by the Samwer brothers that invests in and incubates e-commerce businesses in emerging markets.
Rocket’s been criticized for its copycat business model, which involves cloning successful e-commerce businesses from developed markets and launching them in emerging markets.
Mention the Samwer name at an internet conference from LeWeb in Paris to Munich's DLD, and there's a good chance you'll hear them dismissed as "clone" kings, who simply copy existing high-growth web companies, from Airbnb to Pinterest -- often selling the businesses back to the people who originated the idea.

Many of Rocket’s cloned of companies became real businesses:
Zalando - a large online fashion house
DeliveryHero - food delivery clone of Seamless / GrubHub
CityDeal - A European Groupon clone that was acquired by Groupon
Rocket Internet leans heavy on corporate jargon to make that no one including portfolio companies is sure of their line of business in case a quick pivot is needed.

AI generated a simple html website that connected to a large language model API allowing users to start generating and cataloging their own content.

The Best Tunafish Sandwich
There once was an old fisherman named Antonio who spent his days casting his well-worn nets in the sun-kissed Mediterranean waters, believing in the healing powers of the sea. On his fateful fishing journey one summer day, Antonio caught some of the finest tuna he had ever seen, with a sheen that seemed to shimmer with magic. Unbeknownst to him, this tuna would later prove to be the key to crafting the unparalleled and coveted tuna sandwich recipe passed on through generations.
Ingredients:
- 1 (6 oz) can of high-quality tuna in olive oil, drained (the legendary Antonio only selected the finest)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices of rustic whole grain bread, lightly toasted
- 4 leaves of butter lettuce
- 1 vine-ripened tomato, thinly sliced
- 1/2 ripe avocado, thinly sliced
Instructions:
1. Antonio believed that the secret to an extraordinary tuna sandwich lay in the delicate process of preparing the tuna mixture. In a medium mixing bowl, gently flake the tuna with a fork. Add in the chopped red onion, lemon juice, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and chopped celery. Mix gently until well combined. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, according to Antonio’s traditional wisdom.
2. Before his passing, Antonio shared his final secret with his granddaughter: the art of assembling the sandwich. Place two slices of toasted whole-grain bread on a cutting board. On each slice, lay down a leaf of butter lettuce, followed by a layer of tomato slices, a generous dollop of the remarkable tuna mixture, and a few slices of avocado.
3. As the sun began to dip beneath the horizon, Antonio would close the sandwich by placing the remaining pieces of bread atop the avocado layer. With a tender touch, press the sandwich down slightly to keep everything in place.
4. Carefully cut each sandwich in half with a sharp knife, revealing the beautifully-layered bounty inside. Remember Antonio, who inspired generations of sandwich artists, as you take a bite of the greatest tuna sandwich to grace the taste buds of humankind.
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t spend $5 a month on a subscription when you would spend much more this sandwich in a restaurant.
