On July 13 at midnight Hollywood's actors joined the already striking writers union after the actors union and major Hollywood studios failed to reach a new contract.
The Hollywood strike is a walkout by members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). The WGA is the labor union for most working writers in Hollywood. The SAG-AFTRA union represents 160,000 film, TV, and radio actors.
The strike is pushing for higher residual payments on streaming platforms, limiting and overall protections from artificial intelligence such as how actors' likenesses are used as well as better pay and working conditions.
With the strike in effect, U.S. film and scripted TV show production has come to a standstill, As a consequence, our screens will be filled with a slew of game shows and easily-produced content, leaving the premieres of eagerly anticipated shows in the shadows.
An unexpected consequence of the last strike in 2007-2008 was at the time the surprising rise of reality TV.
This new era of TV created new stars like Donald Trump. His first reality The Apprentice'—had been canceled due to low ratings numbers. Now with a Hollywood strike Trump got another shot with “The Celebrity Apprentice” filling television slots originally meant for popular shows like 'Scrubs' and 'The Office'. If the last Hollywood strike helped a reality star become president. The current strike could lead to the rise of TikTok and Instagram stars crossing over into traditional media or more likely traditional media being replaced by user-generated content.
It is also possible that without human labor, AI takes a larger role in Hollywood from helping craft scripts to generating short and long form content. While AI tech is not perfect yet, it is rapidly evolving.

With AI-generated content, your behavior is different than doing a traditional Google search. Rather than scroll down a page to select a link one specific answer is providing, disallowing space for targeted ads and sponsored links.

Data moves across an information superhighway built on a principle known as the TCP/IP stack, this protocol lets your device (phone, computer, etc.) communicate with all the other devices connected to the internet across the world.

Compare the TCP/IP stack to the process of mailing a letter:
The Physical Layer is like the postal system's basic infrastructure - the mail trucks, airplanes, sorting offices, and postal workers who transport and deliver the physical mail.
The Network (Internet) Layer is like the postmaster who looks at the addresses on the envelopes and decides where each letter needs to go, based on the geographical location.
The Transport Layer is the process of ensuring the letter gets from the sender's house to the recipient's, even if it must go through sorting offices and in and out of several mail trucks first. This layer checks that the letter was received, undamaged, and in the correct order.
The Application Layer is both the sender who writes the letter and the recipient who reads and understands the letter. Regarding Internet communication, it's the websites, email services, and apps that send and receive data - the applications we interact with directly.
On an AI-driven superhighway:
The Physical Layer remains the same and comprises the hardware components - the servers and GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) - which provide the necessary computational power for data transmission and processing.
The Network Layer (Internet layer) is the cloud platform that hosts the AI systems and manages the data connections. It ensures data is transferred in a safe and efficient manner and acts much like a traffic controller, managing the flow of raw information across servers located all over the world.
The Transport Layer is like the AI's algorithm. It receives the unprocessed data from the Network Layer and begins to make sense of it. The algorithm decides how the data is sorted, categorized, and processed, almost like the AI's thought process.
The Application Layer is the user-facing interface of AI, such as virtual assistants, recommendation engines, or automated email responders. They interact with users, delivering the processed data in a user-friendly way, whether it's answering a question, suggesting a show to watch, or drafting an email.
