There once was a rat named Mat, who was really quite fat because he loved to eat cheese. Especially Roquefort.
Eventually, he got tired of his cheese, so he decided to go see the world outside his front door. He walked down the street and stumbled upon a butcher's shop. The shopowner saw the little rat and reached his arm out and offered him a sample.
Once that cheese hit his lips Mat was shaken. Almost hypnotized. He had never tasted anything like this. Mat collected himself and asked if he could buy some cheese. The butcher replied he could get a whole wheel for just a quarter.
Mat decided to get into the cheese business, starting small, selling slices of cheese to people in his neighborhood, but soon his business quickly took off.
Mat ran back to the butcher to buy more wheels of cheese. With all this demand Mat decided to expand and opened what became the hottest restaurant in town. Quickly Mat became very wealthy.
However, the local Fat Cats took notice of Mat's success and didn't like that a little rat was making so much money. The cat’s hatched a plan to take him down by putting rat poison in the cheese. That night a customer came in and saw that the cheese looked funny, but bought a slice anyway. Matt saw the customer coming out of his store and called out to see how the cheese was. The customer told Matt that the cheese tasted funny but Matt was never the wiser that there was something wrong with the cheese.
Mat now had two issues supply and competition. He thought he could fix both at the same time by inviting all of the local Fat Cats to a grand feast where he served them his famous cheese dish. After devouring the cheese, they began to cry that this was the best cheese they had ever tasted. The cats momentarily abandoned their plan to destroy Mat and instead ate and ate and ate.
A local farmer noticed all the Fat Cats in the restaurant and called the police, who promptly rounded the cats up. The farmer thanked Matt for helping capture the Fat Cats and provided him with all the cheese he could ever want.
But Matt was no fool; he knew that being a cheese magnate came with a lot of risks. He decided to leave the business and live a quiet life.
The moral of the story is:
